Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football hosted dozens of children from Fort Drum on Sunday afternoon.
Kids of soldiers in the Army's 10th Mountain Division watched the end of the Orange's practice, presented Dino Babers with a Fort Drum youth football helmet and participated in stations run by SU players and staff.
Babers spoke with the children after finishing his practice, telling them about his childhood as the son of a 21-year Navy man; Luther Babers was deployed on the USS Enterprise, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, and the Babers family traversed the country before sticking in California from Dino's third-grade year on.
