Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football freshman running back Akeem Dixon has left the program due to personal reasons, according to SU Athletics.
Dixon, who enrolled in May, was viewed as a power back with the potential to contribute early. The 6-foot, 235-pound Vero Beach (Fla.) High School product turned in a strong senior year in the classroom to qualify late in the cycle.
A four-year starter at Vero Beach, Dixon rushed for 1,400 yards and 22 touchdowns on 204 carries last fall, per MaxPreps.com. He racked up more than 4,000 all-purpose yards and 59 touchdowns over his career.
