Syracuse, N.Y. -- Chris Slayton is a weight room warrior with no equal on the Syracuse football team.
The defensive lineman started lifting with upperclassmen as a freshman, and it's safe to assume nobody is stronger than the redshirt senior who is preparing for a final season with the Orange before turning toward the NFL. Slayton's vicious takedown of Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant last October provides ample circumstantial evidence of that.
Now a video was published showing Slayton squatting 700 pounds, and I'm told he has gone up to 710 in the past. That is the size of two gorillas, and, of course, a team best.
