Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Syracuse football senior defensive back Tyrone Perkins will remain here overnight in an area hospital after leaving Saturday's 41-24 victory against Wake Forest with a lower-leg injury.
Perkins was injured early in the first quarter covering a punt return. He was carted off the field with his left leg extended out. Teammates came over for words of encouragement before Perkins exited the field.
"He should be OK," coach Dino Babers said after the game. "Our prayers will go with him, but he's a little banged up. He got hurt. I'm not going to talk about it anymore because that's his business; it's not our business.
