Syracuse, N.Y. -- The first speaker at Chris Gedney's funeral paused to gather himself between each sentence.
The second, his wife, Seely Anderson-Gedney, talked quickly as she held back tears.
The third, Chase Gedney, spoke calmly. At 19 years old, the second of four siblings showed poise in reading a prepared speech about the lessons he learned from his father, who died unexpectedly at 47 years old last week.
"There are many lessons my father taught me about life," Chase Gedney said in his opening. "This is the one that stuck with me the most.
