Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football is bringing back a popular tradition for touchdown celebrations.
The Elmira Express train whistle, which honors Syracuse's only Heisman Trophy winner, Ernie Davis, returns to the gameday entertainment repertoire for the first time this season.
During SU's first two games this season, a victory bell was rung to celebrate touchdowns. The bell, meant to break in a new tradition, has its own special story in Syracuse history.
The move away from the train whistle upset a segment of fans on social media.
Now, Syracuse will ring the bell and blare the train whistle after touchdowns.
