In 2018 Andre Szmyt went from walk on to the best kicker in all of college football.
Szmyt became the first placekicker in Syracuse football history to walk away with the Lou Groza Award hardware.
After making history in 2018, Szmyt is looking to double down this upcoming season.
“Szmyt, who is a redshirt sophomore, is bidding to become just the second kicker to win multiple Groza Awards in his career. Florida State’s Sebastian Janikowski in the only previous kicker to achieve the feat, capturing the award in 1998 and 1999,” per the Syracuse press release.
