Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football's 2018 schedule is undergoing a minor change thanks to the wonders of television.
The Orange's 2018 season opener at Western Michigan has been rescheduled for Aug. 31, a Friday night.
The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network, a national television partner with the Mid-American Conference. A kickoff time for the game will be announced on a future date.
The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 1, the opening Saturday of the college football season.
It will be the fifth-straight season Syracuse opens on a Friday night. The previous four games have been played against FCS competition.
