Syracuse, N.Y. -- For weeks, Antwan Cordy thought he was on his way back to the football field.
After breaking his ankle in Syracuse football's season opener against Central Connecticut State, the star defensive back buried himself in his rehabilitation for the second time in as many years.
He pushed his timetable forward and envisioned a midseason return to a team that would upset No. 2 Clemson, but sorely lacked his presence in the secondary.
Then he woke up one morning and couldn't walk.
"My ankle just started swelling up out of nowhere," Cordy said.
