Syracuse, N.Y. -- Matthew Moyer spent his freshman year toiling away day after day in practice without ever enjoying the fruits of his labor.
Moyer, a 6-foot-8 forward, took a redshirt year. He made the decision after injuring his foot in late August. The injury hindered his preseason conditioning and he found himself behind the curve when the Orange's official practices began.
The injury, plus a crowded frontcourt that included Tyler Lydon, Andrew White, Tyler Roberson and Taurean Thompson, led to Moyer's decision to sit out the season and preserve a year of eligibility.
So Moyer practiced every day, going head-to-head with the NBA-bound Lydon.
