Syracuse basketball has scored in a major way off the court with the latest commit pledging his services to the squad in Woody Newton.
Woody is a four-star recruit who is nationally ranked 79th, 12th overall as a power forward, and the third-best prospect coming out of Maryland in the 2020 class per 247 Sports.
Why is this significant?
Well for a few reasons:
- Syracuse has no seniors on their squad heading into 2019 which means, in theory, there would be no scholarships available in the 2020 class.
- That was, of course, the case until Oshae Brissett surprised everyone by keeping his name in the 2019 NBA Draft opening up a scholarship in the class of 2020.
