After making an unprecedented Final Four run in 2016, Syracuse basketball had high hopes last season. With graduate transfer John Gillon coming in, and Tyler Lydon returning for his sophomore season, the sky was the limit for Syracuse.
However, a handful of non-conference losses followed by a rollercoaster ACC play resulted in 15 losses and no bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Three months following Syracuse’ surprisingly early exit from the NIT Tournament, Lydon was drafted with the 24th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, Gillon wasn’t nearly as sought after as Lydon and ended up going undrafted.
