Charlotte, N.C. -- Frank Howard has worn the cumbersome boot for two or three weeks. It's heavy. Its clunky size makes climbing stairs an adventure.
But the hard plastic protection, at this point, is helping to heal his left ankle, which continues to mend. Howard said he "twisted it kinda bad." He's not sure about the severity of the sprain or whether it was the high ankle variety. He knows it's no longer sore or swollen. He now walks without pain when he takes the boot off at the end of each day.
Now, he said, it's just a matter of "healing time.
