Syracuse, N.Y. — On Syracuse's very first offensive possession, Andrew White curled around a screen, caught a pass from John Gillon and went up for an open jump shot.
Two plays later, Tyus Battle knocked a jumper. Then Gillon found White again for yet another caught-and-shoot jumper.
Two minutes into the game and Miami coach Jim Larranaga was seeing exactly what he feared — Syracuse was getting high-percentage shots.
"I thought they were very, very sharp right from the opening tip,'' Larranaga said. "The first few shots that they hit were exactly the kind of shots we did not want them even shooting.
