Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse Chancellor Kent Syverud recently sent a letter to U.S. Rep. John Katko asking him to re-consider his stance on the tax proposal passed by the House of Representatives.
While Syverud's primary argument was that the tax plan would hurt students and SU employees, he also brought up a tax break that few, outside of sports fans, are likely aware of, one that makes a portion of the cost of attending college sporting events a charitable donation.
Syracuse University requires its season-ticket holders to make donations to the university's athletic department in order to purchase the opportunity to buy season tickets in the choicest locations of the Carrier Dome.
