Syracuse basketball played dreadfully against Virginia at home in their season opener last Wednesday. Sure, fans and the team alike could blame Virginia’s excellent pack line defense (which is top 10 in the nation annually) or the fact that the Orange have a really young team this year for the bad performance, but that’d be making excuses.
Fact is: the team just shot bad, played worse, and ultimately had the worst offensive scoring performance in Jim Boeheim’s 44-year tenure. The Orange will need to bounce back in a big way and find a way to win when they play Colgate on Wednesday night.
