Syracuse 13, Albany 12: Last-second goal propels Orange women’s lacrosse

The undefeated Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team almost let the game slip from their fingers Monday in the Carrier Dome.

With just over four minutes to play and the game notched at 11-11, freshman goalie Asa Goldstock lazily threw a pass to Taylor Gait down the middle of the field on a clearing attempt. The ball hung in the air long enough for Albany’s Dakotah Savitcheff to anticipate the throw and knock it out of the air.

Scooping the ball off the turf, Savitcheff raced towards the net. Goldstock frantically retreated to protect her goal and the tie game.
