Syracuse (5-1-1) traveled to Kingston, R.I. yesterday afternoon to face the Rhode Island Rams (1-3-2) in the second match of a three-game road swing. They came away victorious, thanks to junior defender Jessica Vigna’s goal late in the contest.
Junior forward Eva Gordon made a move toward the net in the 89th minute that drew a penalty opportunity for the Orange. Vigna stepped up to take the kick, a veteran move by a player who hadn’t scored a goal in two years. She drilled the ball past goalie Katie Nickles, who had been perfect all night, sending Syracuse to their fifth win of the season.
