SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After forcing three turnovers in the second half, the Syracuse University football team opened the 2022 season with a 31-7 win over ACC rival Louisville Friday night at the JMA Wireless Dome.
It was the fewest points allowed by the Orange against the Cardinals since the 1992 season as the Orange defense held Louisville to just 282 total yards, just one season after the Cardinals averaged 446.2 yards per game.
Syracuse (1-0, 1-0 ACC) was paced by a strong showing from Garrett Shrader, who completed 18 of his 25 passes for 237 yards, alongside two passing and one rushing touchdown.
