How can police ignore $12,000 theft from ESM Little League?
If you listen closely, you can hear furious backpedaling in Manlius after Syracuse.com reported Tuesday that town police decided not to file charges in the alleged theft of $12,000 from the East Syracuse-Minoa Little League.
Police dropped the case after former league president and board member Steven P. Borkowski agreed to repay the money.
Except it's not supposed to work that way, as anyone who's ever watched an episode of "Law and Order" knows. The police investigate; district attorneys prosecute.
Manlius police came through on the investigation; its report runs to 24 pages and lists every transaction allegedly made by Borkowski using a league credit card at various stores, ATMS and a bank branch.
