New York — Welcome to the club, Amar Alibegovic.
The St. John's forward was averaging 3.9 points per game before Syracuse came to town Sunday. The Orange and its 2-3 zone looked mighty inviting to Alibegovic, the son of Bosnian parents who was born in Oregon and grew up in Rome, Italy, where his dad played professional basketball.
"The zone for me gave me an opportunity for offensive rebounds and to shoot the ball," said Alibegovic, after St. John's defeated Syracuse 84-72. "That's one of my strengths and I was able to knock it down.
