Syracuse, N.Y. -- When Scott Shafer learned Middle Tennessee State would be visiting the Carrier Dome this spring, he stowed away two cigars -- one for himself and one for his son, Wolfgang.
And moments after the Blue Raiders upset Syracuse football 30-23 on Saturday, the former Orange head coach was trotting through the Dome bowels with one in his mouth.
"It was bittersweet in a lot of ways," Shafer said after the game, "but far more sweet than bitter being on this Blue Raiders team right now."
