Syracuse, N.Y. -- Scoop Jardine called Kevin Belbey months ago, asking the Boeheim's Army general manager to save the point guard spot for him on The Basketball Tournament team.
The former Syracuse basketball guard was looking forward to the Syracuse-centric summer team seeking $2 million in the winner-take-all tournament. But a nagging injury that surfaced when he played professionally in Canada last season ultimately decided Jardine's fate.
"He didn't think it was smart," Belbey said, "to play on that."
So Belbey had a decision to make: He clearly needed another point guard. By late last Thursday, he was investigating the possibilities.
