Fifth-year running back Devante McFarlane has decided to leave the Syracuse football program, according to multiple reports. Syracuse.com first reported the news.
McFarlane entered the 2015 season as the starting running back but fell behind freshman Jordan Fredericks within the first few weeks. McFarlane rushed for 563 yards on 111 attempts in 34 games during his SU career. His only touchdown came in 2013, when he had his best season. His rushing yards have decreased each of the past three seasons from 292 in 2013 to 169 the following year and then to 102 in 2015.
McFarlane is the sixth player to leave the program since Dino Babers became the Orange’s new head coach and the second to do so voluntarily, joining wide receiver Ben Lewis.
