Rex Culpepper is ready for cancer fight, with help from Syracuse football and beyond (video)

Syracuse, N.Y. -- There is a bell in the cancer center at Upstate University Hospital, and in 57 days Rex Culpepper intends to walk out of his final chemotherapy treatment, ring the bell and set his sights on a cancer-free life.

Until then, there is a network of support that extends from Syracuse University and its football program to his community back home in Tampa, Fla., one that has roped in the Dallas Cowboys and soon, with a little phone luck, Lance Armstrong.

"The amount of support I received," Culpepper said, "was monumental. It made me teary.
