GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse linebacker Kielan Whitner, placekicker Andre Szmyt and quarterback Tommy DeVito were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday, Sept. 17 for their performances in the Orange's 30-7 victory against Atlantic Division rival Florida State Saturday.
Whitner was named the league's Linebacker of the Week. The senior tallied a career-high 11 tackles and forced a fumble against the Seminoles. He led an Orange defense that held FSU to 240 total yards, forced 10 punts, sacked quarterback Deondre Francois four times, and harassed the Seminoles into a 1-of-14 (.
