Syracuse, N.Y.-- The Syracuse Orange women and Notre Dame Fighting Irish put their trademark colors away Sunday at the Carrier Dome in honor of Play4Kay fundraising initiative for the Kay Yow Cancer fund.
Five thousand pink t-shirts lined seats before the start of the game to help encourage a record-breaking crowd for Sunday's game, and boy did it work as the attendance record for a women's basketball game at the dome shattered the previous record with 11,021 attending the game.
The Play4Kay initiative highlights N.C. State coach Sandra Kay Yow who battled breast cancer through much of her coaching career, and died January of 2009.
