On the hot seat? Syracuse coach Scott Shafer says he's not really thinking about job security

Syracuse, N.Y. — The question is sure to come up whenever Syracuse gets around to hiring a new athletic director.

The measure of patience regarding football coach Scott Shafer is one of the most compelling undertakings for the next AD. Some clarity on Shafer's job security should be known by the time the season kicks off.

If Shafer is nearing the end of his contract, then it is entirely plausible to peg 2015 as a critical year in determining Shafer's future. The school does not have to disclose terms of Shafer's contract because it is a private institution.
