Syracuse, N.Y. -- The No. 1 girls high school lacrosse player in the country has backed out of her commitment to Syracuse University, according to a report by Florida Lacrosse News.
The publication said that Caitlyn Wurzburger, a junior attack at American Heritage in Delray Beach, Fla., has de-committed from SU and is re-opening her recruitment process.
Wurzburger recorded 105 goals and 116 assists as a sophomore. She has been a sensation for many years, making national news when she gave a verbal commitment to the Orange as an eighth-grader.
That made her the youngest women's lacrosse player to ever commit to a college program and propelled the NCAA to adopt new recruiting rules.
