Syracuse, N.Y.-- The Syracuse women's basketball team will head out of a snowstorm in Central New York this week and steer directly into the women's college basketball tsunami that is Connecticut.
The NCAA tournament committee did the Orange no favors on Monday night, slotting SU as the eighth seed in the Bridgeport Region. Not only does that set up Syracuse for a first-round meeting against tough Iowa State out of the Big 12 at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, but if Syracuse wins that game it almost certainly will take on No. 1 Connecticut on its home court of Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
