NCAA proposes major changes for 2015-16 college basketball season

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The NCAA's men's basketball rules committee has proposed several changes for the 2015-16 season.

The rules committee voted to shorten the shot clock from 35 to 30 seconds, suggested several rules to address pace of play and also addressed the increased physicality in the game.

"We have spent the past year collecting data, opinions and considering proposals that will help our game,'' Belmont coach Rick Byrd, the chair of the NCAA rules committee, said. "Our anticipation is that dedicated officiating enforcement, along with this package of changes, will help balance the offense and defense in our game.
