It’s only right Breast Cancer Awareness month begins with exciting news about a survivor.
The NCAA has accepted Tiana Mangakahia’s extension of eligibility request to compete in the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Mangakahia was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer (Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) in June 2019. She underwent treatment immediately, which included multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgeries.
In February of this year, Mangakahia was cleared to begin training again but could not return to the court until the following season.
“I’m super happy with this news,” Mangakahia stated during media availability Friday.
“It’s just great to see your full team out there and see what you have,” Syracuse Orange Head Coach Quentin Hillsman said of Mangakahia’s return to the team.
