Moral victories not an option as Syracuse women's basketball tangles with powerhouses

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse women's basketball coach Quentin Hillsman pulled on a mighty strong pair of blinders after practice on Friday morning.

They shield him from all kinds of distractions, most notably a favorable pre-holiday travel schedule. Syracuse visits Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Sunday for a contest against Coastal Carolina before heading off to Las Vegas for a pair of "Duel in the Desert" tournament games next week.

That city has more than enough bright lights and entertainment options to pull Hillsman away from game preparation for a well-deserved study break. But the coach laughs and insists he'll be a no-show at any sparkling shows or ringing casino floors.
