Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse guard Michael Gbinije started for the second consecutive days for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA's Orlando Summer League on Sunday.
Gbinije, the Pistons' second-round pick in the 2016 NBA draft, scored eight points in 22 minutes as Detroit thumped the New York Knicks 103-78 on Sunday afternoon in Orlando.
Gbinije spent most of the 2016-17 season in the NBA's D-League. He appeared in nine games with Detroit. His play in Orlando could position him for a spot on the Pistons' 2017-18 roster.
On Sunday, Gbinije went 3-for-10 from the field overall, but he made two of his five attempts from 3-point range.
