For the second straight game, the Syracuse basketball outfit won the rebounding battle and had more steals than their opponent, and were finally rewarded for it. The Orange outrebounded the Huskies 41-28 and stole the ball four more times.
Syracuse won this contest because they were able to convert their free throws and hit shots, two things they failed to do consistently in their 76-60 loss to Kansas on December 2nd. The Orange shot 73% (24/33) from the free throw line, while the Huskies finished with a 70% free throw percentage on 10 fewer attempts. Syracuse shot an impressive 45% (22/49) from the floor, 13% better than they did this past Saturday against the Jayhawks.
