At least it was fun.
It wasn't nearly the wire-to-wire blowout that most expected, but LSU still topped Syracuse, 34-24, at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, handing the Orange their first loss of 2015.
Syracuse never held a lead in the game but kept it close throughout. The Orange trailed 7-3 at halftime, 17-10 midway through the third quarter and 24-17 in the fourth quarter before the Tigers pulled away.
In the loss, SU's sophomore walk-on quarterback Zack Mahoney finished 16-of-38 for 154 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He didn't show much of anything during the first half but came out firing after halftime.
