Laura Zimmerman scores twice as U.S. women's lacrosse wins World Cup

Former Westhill standout Laura Zimmerman buried a pair of goals to help the United States capture the 2017 Federation of Lacrosse women's World Cup with a 10-5 win over Canada on Saturday in England.

The tournament win was Team USA's third in a row.

Ex-SU star Michelle Tumolo scored once for the U.S. Current Orange player Allie Jimerson put up two goals for Canada.

Team USA led 5-1 at the half before Zimmerman boosted the lead with her first goal shortly after intermission. Zimmerman's second goal later in the game sent her squad up 9-4.
