The former Syracuse Orange athletes competing in the Tokyo Olympics are guaranteed to win at least four medals but two are hoping to make golden memories. On Friday morning at 8 am eastern Justyn Knight will compete in his first Olympics final when he takes to the track for the 5000m. Knight was fourth in his heat in a time of 13:30.22 and of the sixteen finalists his personal-best of 12:51 is sixth-fastest.
The heat and humidity have had an impact on the track competition with many of the distance races turning into tactical affairs. For Justyn patience and positioning will be crucial but he has spent this year preparing for this style of race with a focus on his 1500 speed.
