New York -- John Gillon likely ended his first professional basketball season playing as well as any former Syracuse player, lighting it up for more than a month out of the general public's eye in medium-sized venues across the G-League.
He torched opponents in gyms from Fort Wayne to Grand Rapids to Canton, averaging 18.4 points and 6 assists in his final nine games, results he attributed to finally being given an opportunity.
"Just play me and I'm going to show you," Gillon said. "Any time I got the chance I did pretty well. I was asking, begging, for a chance and they gave it to me.
