Joe Girard III commits to Syracuse basketball

Glen Falls, N.Y. -- Joe Girard III, a 6-foot-2 guard from Glens Falls, N.Y., has committed to Syracuse University.

Girard made the announcement during a press conference at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls on Sunday night.

Girard picked Syracuse from a final list of six schools that also included Boston College, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State. He had taken official visits to Syracuse and Boston College.

Girard is considered one of the top 3-point shooters in the 2019 class. He averaged 50 points per game for Glens Falls High School last year. He also broke the New York State career scoring record previously held by current Los Angeles Lakers forward Lance Stephenson.
