SYRACUSE — Jim Boeheim, the Syracuse basketball coach, will not be charged in a fatal highway crash he was involved in last month, and the case has been closed.
Boeheim was “not reckless,” William Fitzpatrick, the Onondaga County district attorney, said on Thursday. Fitzpatrick added that his decision had come after he reviewed the police report.
Boeheim declined to comment, the Syracuse athletic department said.
According to the report, Boeheim was driving 66 miles per hour five seconds before the night crash and about 54 m.p.h. at impact. The speed limit is 55 m.
