Jim Boeheim set to be oldest coach in D-I history: 'Go as long as you can do a good job'

Syracuse, N.Y. -- If Jim Boeheim's career was an hourglass, by the end of last season there were just a few grains of sand left in the upper chamber.

Mike Hopkins' decision to leave Syracuse for Washington in March took that hourglass and flipped it upside-down.

"Mike accepting that position clearly changed the dynamics of the succession plan that had been put into place,'' SU athletic director John Wildhack said.

So now, who knows how much sand is left in Boeheim's career? Wildhack and Boeheim have refused to specify the length of Boeheim's contract extension.

Boeheim's son, Buddy, has committed to play for his dad at Syracuse.
