Syracuse, N.Y. - At last year's ACC Media Day, Jim Boeheim dropped a bombshell.
His Syracuse basketball team, he said, might play some man-to-man defense. He liked the depth of his team. He thought the defense might be suited for his personnel. He was considering an alternative to his signature 2-3 zone.
But the Orange turned out to be a decidedly zone defensive team last season. And that zone defense turned out to be leaky and suspect.
On Wednesday in Charlotte, Boeheim hedged on the man defense concept.
"We work on it, we play it, we could play some," he said.
