Syracuse, N.Y. -- Louisville's decision to prohibit its men's basketball team from the 2016 postseason inevitably drew comparisons to Syracuse, an ACC and former Big East brother that self-imposed its own ban from last year's postseason.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was asked about the Louisville situation on this morning's ACC conference call. The Cardinals are dealing with fallout from a book claiming Louisville players and recruits engaged for years in parties with strippers in which money was exchanged. The NCAA is investigating.
Last year, Syracuse opted out of the postseason after a lengthy NCAA investigation determined the Orange offered improper assistance with a player's schoolwork, a businessman supplied extra benefits to certain athletes and SU improperly monitored and applied its own drug policy.
