Syracuse, N.Y. -- Howard Washington played a career-high 24 minutes in Syracuse's two-overtime loss at Florida State on Saturday.
The freshman point guard scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds, had an assist and a steal during his relatively lengthy ACC indoctrination. It was the longest period this season that SU coach Jim Boeheim elected to go with three guards in his lineup. In that configuration, Washington shares the primary ball-handling duties with Frank Howard. And Tyus Battle slips to the small forward spot.
"We handle the ball a little bit better, we put another guy in that can make shots.
