In a two-game weekend series against CHA leader, Mercyhurst, Syracuse had a chance to move into first place in the conference. Which, they ended up achieving... for one day. Both games were played at the War Memorial in Syracuse. In the first outing, Syracuse shut out the Lakers 2-0 to move into a tie with Mercyhurst at the top of the conference. However the next day, Mercyhurst responded with a 3-1 victory to regain sole possession of first place. They now lead Syracuse in the standings by two points.
