WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the latest chapter of one of college basketball's most storied rivalries, Georgetown (7-3) defeated Syracuse (5-5, 1-1 ACC), 89-79, Saturday afternoon. It was the 95th meeting between the former BIG EAST rivals and the Orange now lead the series 51-44.
After not scoring in the first half, Buddy Boeheim exploded for 25 points in the second. The sophomore finished 7-for-13 from 3-point range and 9-18 from the field.
DOWN BUT NOT OUT
A 6-0 scoring run helped the Hoyas out to an 8-3 lead in the opening minutes of the contest.
