Syracuse, N.Y. -- The direction of the Syracuse women's basketball team was very much an open-ended question after a loss to Louisville on Feb. 4.
The setback left SU with a 5-6 record in the ACC, with five games remaining. Three of those games were on the road, where the Orange has struggled this season. One of the home games was against nationally ranked Duke.
The consensus of coach Quentin Hillsman was that the Orange needed to finish the regular season with 10 league wins to lock down a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Simple math dictated such insurance required a 5-0 finish.
