Charlottesville, Va. - Syracuse trailed by a single sliver of a point at No. 3 Virginia with 17:20 left in Tuesday's game at JPJ Arena. For the most part, the Orange had discouraged UVa's perimeter game, enticing the Cavaliers into a 3-for-12 shooting first half from behind the arc.
Then, with a fusillade of made threes, all of that changed.
In a span of about five minutes, Virginia turned four straight 3-point makes into what would become, practically speaking, an insurmountable advantage. Throw in the three free throws Kyle Guy made after he was fouled from behind the arc and UVa's damage from the 3-point line during that period was even more pronounced.
