Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse basketball player Trevor Cooney has left his team in Spain to sign with a professional team in Germany, according to his agent.
Cooney, a starter on Syracuse's Final Four team last year, had been playing for Baskonia, which competes in Spain's ACB league as well as the Euroleague. Baskonia, or Saski Baskonia, is located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
Cooney is moving to SC Rasta Vechta, which plays in Germany's Basketball Bundesliga. The team is located in Vechta, Germany.
Cooney's agent, Stephen Pina of ASM Sports, confirmed that Cooney had left Baskonia to sign with Vechta.
